Oaklawn Park: Titletown Five to make 3-year-old debut Saturday
Email
Titletown Five, who Wednesday was announced as an individual betting interest in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, will make his seasonal debut Saturday at Oaklawn in the $60,000 Gazebo. The field for the six-furlong race for 3-year-olds includes the undefeated Get Happy Mister, a nine-length winner of the $100,000 Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe in his last start Aug. 19.
Titletown Five, co-owned and trained by D. Wayne Lukas, was a nine-length maiden special weight winner at Churchill in his last start Oct. 28. For the effort, he earned a Beyer of 98. Lukas is excited about the son of Tiznow whose markings include a star on his forehead.
“It’s in the shape of an ‘S’ for superstar,” he grinned.
Jon Court has the mount from post 6 in the field of 7.

MONCLOVA galloped out strongly after closing belatedly in her second trip postward May 26, from which the runner-up exited to graduate with a 68 Beyer. The daughter of Queen's Plate winner Niigon is bred to run long, and can break through with the stretchout from six and a half furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. BE MIND PHIL is returning on short rest off a closing second in her debut, going a mile around one turn on the grass. She has a blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree.
