Oaklawn opens to Fair Grounds horses

Email

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Oaklawn Park will open its stable area to horses from Fair Grounds on Monday, provided those horses meet certain conditions, according to officials with the Hot Springs track.

Oaklawn had banned horses from Fair Grounds when the New Orleans track reported positives for the equine herpesvirus. A quarantine has since been lifted at Fair Grounds.

Oaklawn on Friday accepted entries from Fair Grounds horses for races that will run Thursday.

Oaklawn is still banning horses who have been at the following facilities in the last 30 days: LaCroix Training Center, Highpointe Training Center, Turfway Park, and Keeneland.

The conditions that Fair Grounds shippers must meet include proof of vaccination for the equine herpesvirus within a certain time frame and a health certificate with a specific statement signed by an accredited veterinarian. For details, parties should contact the racing office at Oaklawn.
