Oaklawn: Honeybee to Yoursmineours

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Yoursmineours was prominent throughout to give jockey Don Pettinger his third consecutive win in the $75,000 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Yoursmineours was a 2 1/2-length winner over Stephan's Angel, who was coupled with fifth-place finisher Foolishly. It was another 3 3/4 lengths back in third to Solitary Emerald.

Yoursmineours ($14.60) jumped out to the lead at the start of the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies, and was just off the quarter-mile fraction of 23.52 seconds set by Miss Concerto. Yoursmineours then took over, going in 47.18 seconds for the half-mile. She went on to cover the distance over a fast track in 1:45.14.

Donnie Von Hemel trains Yoursmineours, who earned $45,000 for her win in the Honeybee. She has now won 4 of 9 starts and $85,790. Yoursmineours races for Stan Burnstein and Jim Nelson. A daughter of Belong to Me, she was bred by Jonabell Farm.

All Electric, the favorite, contested the early pace but dropped out of the race through the stretch and finished seventh. Turn to Lass and Proper Dancer scratched out of the Honeybee.

Von Hemel won the Honeybee in 2002 with Bedanken, ridden by Pettinger. Pettingger also won the race last year My Trusty Cat.
