Oak Tree Racing Association to be honored by Ed Gregson Foundation

The Oak Tree Racing Association, a not-for-profit organization which conducted autumn race meetings at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park from 1969 through 2010, will be honored for its service in Southern California Thoroughbred racing by the Edwin J. Gregson Foundation on Aug. 8.

The annual fund-raising dinner will be held at the Grand Del Mar hotel in San Diego. Tickets are $250 per person with proceeds going toward educational programs for California backstretch employees and families.

Oak Tree is not conducting a meeting this fall, but reached a financial agreement earlier this year with Santa Anita for that track to use the familiar Oak Tree stakes as prep races for the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs  this fall.

The financial arrangement will allow Oak Tree to continue its donations to a variety of racing-related charities.

The Gregson foundation provides scholarship grants, computer classes and English as a second language courses for backstretch families.
