Nownownow out of Guineas

Nownownow will not run in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday, as he was withdrawn from the race at the five-day entry stage by trainer David Wachman, who offered no explanation.

Winner of last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, Nownownow had missed his intended Guineas prep race because rain had set him back a bit. A son of Whywhywhy owned by Fab Oak Stables, Nownownow is stabled at Wachman's yard in County Tipperary in Ireland.

The undefeated European juvenile champ, New Approach, remains the 9-5 favorite for the classic mile, with Raven's Pass the second choice at 4-1 and Ibn Khaldun 5-1, but the Godolphin-owned Fast Company has been withdrawn due to a poor blood count.

* Two horses who were being considered for races in Japan this spring will stay at home after all. Dreaming of Anna, selected by the Japan Racing Association to run in the $1.5 million Victoria Mile on turf at Tokyo on May 18, will instead run in the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile on Saturday. The connections of Sailors Sunset, who had been selected to run in either the seven-furlong, $1.2 million Keio Hai Spring Cup on the Tokyo turf on May 17 or the six-furlong, $450,000 Ritto Stakes there on dirt the next day, have declined.
