Noverre out to snap slide

Noverre will attempt to break a four-race losing streak as the favorite in the one-mile Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in England on Saturday.

A high-ranking member of Godolphin's international invasion force, Noverre, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Rahy, will be trying to win for the first time since Aug. 1, when he landed the Sussex Stakes. He has subsequently been third in the Prix Jacques le Marois, second in the Queen Elizabeth II, seventh in the Breeders' Cup Mile and, most recently, second in the Dubai Duty Free.

Jamie Spencer replaces the suspended Frankie Dettori aboard Noverre, who must not allow stablemate Summoner to steal away to an easy lead, as he did when he upset the Queen Elizabeth II at 33-1.

Carlos Laffon-Parias sends his recent Group 2 Prix du Muguet winner Keltos across the Channel to challenge.

A much-improved son of Kendor, Summoner will be ridden by Olivier Peslier and could take it all should Noverre falter once again. Neither Swallow Flight nor Cape Town, the first two in the Group 2 Sandown Mile on April 27, can be dismissed lightly.
