Notgivingmyloveaway wins one for Canada

EmailNotgivingmyloveaway shipped down from Woodbine in Canada to win the $101,400 Pennsylvania Nursery for 2-year-old statebred colts and geldings at Philadelphia Park in a romp.

Double Down Vinman, the 6-5 favorite, battled for the early lead in the seven-furlong race, seized control on the turn, but had no response when Notgivingmyloveaway came at him under Jorge Duarte Jr. turning for home.

Notgivingmyloveaway, the third choice in the betting, was fifth after a quarter-mile, third at the half, and was in front by two lengths in early stretch and five at the wire.

Sweet Sugar rallied for second, three lengths ahead of Double Down Vinman, who held on for third.

Notgivingmyloveaway dropped from 9-1 to 9-2 in the final two minutes of wagering, while Double Down Vinman drifted up from 4-5 to 6-5.

The fractions were fast - 22.32 second for the quarter-mile and 44.99 for the half - which probably contributed to Double Down Vinman's defeat.

Trained by Reade Baker for owner-breeder Jus Luk Stable, Notgivingmyloveaway was timed in 1:23.59 and paid $11.80.

A son of Not for Love out of the Fast Play mare Fasatria, Notgivingmyloveaway improved his record to 2-1-0 from 4 starts and his earnings to $113,312.
