Notable Okie having strong meet

Notable Okie, who finished second by a nose at 17-1 last out in the $100,000 Remington Green Stakes, will return to the overnight ranks Friday night in the featured ninth race at Remington Park. An optional claimer, the one-mile turf race drew a field of 10.

Notable Okie will vie for favoritism based on his strong record at the meet. He won at this optional claiming level on turf on Sept. 12, then returned to defend his title in the $50,000 Oklahoma Classics Day Turf on Sept. 30. One start later, Notable Okie closed fast and just failed to catch the front-running Major Rhythm in the Remington Green.

"I was just thrilled to death with his race," said Donnie Von Hemel, who trains Notable Okie for Richter Family Trust. "He's just one of those horses that runs hard every time."

Don Pettinger is the regular rider on Notable Okie, a 6-year-old Oklahoma-bred by Editor's Note.
