Dougs Buddy remained undefeated in three starts by taking the $50,000 Birdcatcher Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings at Northlands Park on Saturday.

Dougs Buddy ($2.70), trained by Joan Petrowski and owned by Doug Blair,  was under pressure early in the 6 ½-furlong  feature, but after disposing of Kirbrassy at the quarter pole he opened up a clear lead at the top of the stretch and was never threatened while scoring by 1 ¾ lengths over Silver Baubles. Kirbrassy held on to finish third in the five-horse field.

The final time was 1:18.80.

Earlier on the card, heavily favored My Daddy’s Girl ($2.30), ridden by Fernando Perez for trainer Greg  Tracy, led wire to wire in the $50,000 Bird of Pay for 2-year-old fillies. She finished 1 ¼ lengths in front of Top it Up in a four-horse field.

The winning  time was 1:21.40.
