Bit Of A Legend N added the Battle of Lake Erie trophy to his haul of half-mile track titles by winning the $200,000 contest for older male pacers on Saturday night at Northfield Park after a game first-up performance.  The time of the mile was 1:49 4/5, a new lifetime mark for the Peter Tritton-trained 9-year-old. Missile J (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) snapped to the early lead, reaching the opening quarter in 27 seconds before giving way to 1-5 favorite Rockin Ron (Matt Kakaley), who was coming in off a 1:50 demolition of his rivals in the Camluck Classic at Western Fair last Friday.  Bit Of A Legend N (Jordan Stratton) settled in fourth from post five, then was brought first-up off the second turn. Rockin Ron held control at the 54 4/5 half and the 1:21 4/5 three-quarters, with Bit Of A Legend N only a length back on the outside at both stations, and around the far turn the battle intensified even more.  In the lane Rockin Ron tried to continue to fend off the challenge, but it was to no avail as Bit Of A Legend N surged by on his way to a victory by a length.  All Bets Off (Chris Page) rode the winner's cover and was third, followed by Missile J, Allbeef N Nobull (Dan Rawlings), Granite (Tyler Smith), and Scott Rocks (Aaron Merriman). "We were a little upset with him last week (fifth in the Camluck Classic), and Pete thought he had him ready tonight, and he was 100% right," said Stratton.  "Pete is just a great trainer through and through.  He's very hard working, and his hard work showed off tonight.  He was a great horse Down Under, and then he tailed off a little bit after getting in with some really good horses, but he found his home on the half-miles here." This was the 44th career win for Bit Of A Legend N, a 9-year-old Bettor's Delight stallion owned by Vonknoblauch Stable LLC.  Bit Of A Legend N has now earned $2,241,131 lifetime, and he paid $7.80 to win as the 5-2 second choice. The undercard featured a trio of $40,000 Ohio Sires Stakes divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies, and they were all won by trainer Brian Brown.  First up was Prsntpretynperfect, who carried Stratton to a first-up win in 1:52 4/5, next was Smiley Dragon, who was steered by Ronnie Wrenn Jr. to a 1:52 4/5 maiden-breaking score, and McPansy rounded out the trio of triumphs as Chris Page piloted her to a 1:52 3/5 win.  Prsntpretynperfect, a daughter of Big Bad John, is owned by Jennifer Brown, Richard Lombardo, and Marlene Taylor, while Smiley Dragon (Dragon Again) and McPansy (McArdle) are both owned by breeder Emerald Highlands Farm.
