Northern California yearling sale catalog available


Catalogs for the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Northern California yearling sale, scheduled for Aug. 13 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, Calif., are now available.

The CTBA has cataloged 96 yearlings for the sale, and seven horses of racing age have also been added. Supplemental entries will be accepted up to the date of the sale.

Last year’s Northern California sale finished with 69 yearlings sold from 95 offered for gross receipts of $528,200, a 48 percent increase compared with 2011. The average price of $7,655 rose 50 percent, and the median of $4,000 jumped 48 percent.

Notable horses sold at the Northern California yearling sale over the past 10 years include Grade 2 winner Sierra Sunset, dual Grade 3 winner Autism Awareness, and nine-time stakes winner Bai and Bai.
