North American leaders for 2007


Todd Pletcher, Garrett Gomez, and Stronach Stables were the leading trainer, jockey, and owner, respectively, in terms of earnings in North America for 2007, according to statistics released by Equibase.

Curlin led all Thoroughbreds with North American earnings of $5,102,800, followed by Street Sense with $3,205,000 and English Channel with $2,640,000.

Pletcher topped the leading trainers' list for the fourth consecutive year. Pletcher-trained horses won 289 races from 1,228 starts for earnings of $28,111,697, surpassing the North American earnings mark of $26,820,243 he set the year before.

Garrett Gomez, with earnings of $22,800,074, topped the leading jockeys' list for a second consecutive year.

Stronach Stables, North America's leading owner in 2002, won 128 races from 537 starts and earned $7,076,138 in North America during 2007.

Pletcher, Gomez, Stronach Stables, and Curlin remain on top if you include the results of the Dubai World Cup card from March 31, 2007, at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. Including these international earnings, Pletcher earned $28,571,697 and Gomez $23,800,074. Neither Stronach Stables nor Curlin earned money in Dubai.
