Norman ties Oaklawn record

Cole Norman equaled Oaklawn Park's record for victories by a trainer on a card on Friday when he won five races on the program. The feat equaled the mark set by David Vance on April 7, 1973, and equaled by Bobby Barnett on Feb. 5, 1994.

Norman, who has won the last four training titles at Oaklawn and leads the current standings there, started the card with a victory when Meckenized captured the first and paid $3.60 under Jamie Theriot. Norman proceeded to win the third with Fabulous Charmer ($5.60), the fourth with Gold Chance ($58.20), the seventh with Little Shon ($4), and the ninth with Top Commander ($11).

Norman also had the odds-on favorite, Flashy Falsehood, in the 10th race on Friday. He crossed the wire third but was disqualified for interference and placed fourth.

Theriot also rode Fabulous Charmer and Little Shon, while Carlos Gonzalez was on Gold Chance and Roman Chapa was on Top Commander.
