Nobody can catch Buffy in Landaluce

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Buffythecenterfold remained unbeaten in two starts with a front-running win in the $110,600 Landaluce Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Matt Garcia, Buffythecenterfold fought for the early lead with Himalayan through fractions of 22.01 and 44.99 seconds before emerging with the lead at the quarter pole.

Through the stretch, she was challenged by Tricks Her and Little Bit a Swiss, but held on to win by a length, finishing six furlongs in 1:10.99.

Bartok's Blithe finished fourth in the field of nine 2-year-old fillies, followed by Himalayan, Spirit Run, Souvenir Crown, and Magic Smoke, the 2-1 favorite. Proud Girly was pulled up on the turn and was vanned off.

Buffythecenterfold ($15.80) won a maiden race at Hollywood on June 15 in her only previous start for owner Allen Brian and trainer Mel Stute. The Grade 3 Landaluce Stakes is considered the 2-year-old filly championship of the spring-summer meeting.
