No Bull Baby takes Moccasin Stakes

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - No Bull Baby overcame trouble on the turn to win her first stakes in Sunday's $100,000 Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, No Bull Baby was forced to wait behind the frontrunners with three furlongs remaining, moved to the outside of the pacesetters entering the stretch and rallied impressively to win by a half-length over Short Route.

Short Route rallied from sixth to finish second. She's a Jewel, who was part of the early pace of 22.14 and 44.92 seconds, finished third in the field of seven 2-year-old fillies.

The victory marked No Bull Baby's first win since she beat maidens at Del Mar in August. She subsequently finished eighth in the Del Mar Debutante, seventh in the Oak Leaf Stakes and second in the Anoakia Stakes.

"She's starting to relax now, and is more comfortable behind horses," trainer Bob Baffert said. "She's learning, and she's coming around."

No Bull Baby ($6.40) finished seven furlongs in 1:23.06. She has earned $106,380 for owners Patti and Hal Earnhardt 3d.

Baffert said that No Bull Baby will be considered for the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes over 1 1/16 miles on Dec. 19.
