Nine breeze 10-second furlongs


Aided by a tailwind and fast track conditions, nine juveniles cataloged to the Fasig-Tipton Calder select 2-year-old sale breezed an eighth of a mile in 10 seconds on Sunday at the final under-tack preview.

The one-day auction was to begin Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Calder.

Sunday’s fastest eighth-mile works were from Hip No. 20, a Street Cry-Holiday Runner filly consigned by John D. Stephens; Hip No. 25, a Successful Appeal-House d’Or colt consigned by McKathan brothers, agent; Hip No. 64, a More Than Ready-Miss Garland filly, and Hip No. 74, a Storm Boot-Miss Lassie filly, both consigned by the McKathans’ agency; Hip No. 87, a Distorted Humor-Nothing Special colt offered by Nick de Meric, agent; Hip No. 107, a Sky Mesa-Procession colt consigned by Niall Brennan, agent; Hip No. 120, a Sky Mesa-Sailing On colt in the Kirkwood Stables agency’s consignment; Hip No. 176, a Forestry-Unbridled Spirit colt consigned by Four Roses Thoroughbreds; and Hip No. 252, a Mineshaft-Coral Sea colt offered by the Kirkwood Stables agency.
