Nice Inheritance best in Cimarron

Nice Inheritance became a stakes winner Saturday night at Remington Park, when she closed for a length and a half win over Katys Gold Touch in the $50,000 Cimarron. It was another length back in third to favorite Round Lake.

Stage Stop was scratched from the Cimarron.

Nice Inheritance ($16.40) bided her time from off the pace in the seven and a half furlong turf race for 2-year-old fillies, as Polynesian Kitty and Emma Grace vollied the lead through fractions of 23.57 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.61 for the half-mile mark, and 1:12.61 for six furlongs. Nice Inheritance rallied through the stretch, covering the distance over firm turf in 1:31.76.

"I thought I was going to have a little traffic trouble, but it opened up," said Justin Shepherd, who rode the winner for trainer Scott Blasi.

Nice Inheritance earned $30,000 for the win, which was the second of her career. She has now earned $58,250. Nice Inheritance races for Vinery Stables.

* Earlier on the card, Red Rock Creek improved his record at the meet to 6-for-6 when he won an optional claiming race. Blasi trains the horse, who was ridden by Shepherd.
