Nice Deed returns in Debutante

A full field of 12 2-year-old fillies has been entered in Saturday's $40,000 Debutante Stakes at Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Four of the fillies in the 5 1/2-furlong race are winners and four will race with Lasix for the first time.

Nice Deed won the first 2-year-old race of the year here on June 23. She defeated the colt Thunder Buns, who returned to win his next start. Jockey Carlos Marquez has chosen Nice Deed over Suzy's Success, who finished second in her only start.

Chinnook Wind, one of two shippers in the field, was a runaway winner at Stampede Park in her first start on May 28. Jockey Rohan Singh, who rode two other Debutante entrants in their last start, has accepted the call on Chinnook Wind.

Yankee Jazz won her second start after finishing fourth behind Nice Deeds first time out. Apprentice Kirk Johnson will ride Yankee Jazz over Royal Romance, who also won last time out, defeating Suzy's Success and Royal Assent.

Emma's Touch, the other shipper in the field, has been well beaten in two starts, both versus maiden special weight company at Woodbine. Jockey Alan Cuthbertson has accepted the call on Emma's Touch over Royal Assent.

Sure Why Not and Smokin White Owl finished fourth and fifth behind Yankee Jazz in their only start. Both will race with Lasix for the first time.

Also racing with Lasix for the first time are Royal Assent and Royal Romance.

Ihavealittleshadow was claimed for $12,500 by trainer Raymond Liu in her only start.
