New York Thoroughbred Breeders to hold stallion season auction
Email
New York Thoroughbred Breeders will conduct its annual stallion season auction from Thursday, Jan. 24, through Monday, Jan. 28, for the purpose of fund raising.
The auction will be held online using the Starquine bidding platform at www.starquine.com and feature seasons to stallions standing in New York and Kentucky.
Among the stallions whose seasons will be auctioned is Teuflesberg, sire of newly-minted Eclipse Award champion Trinniberg from his first crop. The Johannesburg horse moves to McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds from Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Fla. for the 2013 season and is standing for an advertised fee of $5,000.
Seasons will also be offered to Freud, annually among the leading sires in New York; and Frost Giant, the state's leading freshman sire of 2012.
The annual auction supports NYTB and its political action committee in promoting the welfare of New York’s Thoroughbred industry and ensuring that the state’s breeders are heard in debates impacting breeding and racing.
