New York bill would bar felons

A bill that would prohibit convicted felons from operating a racetrack or slot-machine facility passed unanimously in the New York State Senate on Wednesday.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. William Larkin, would also allow the New York State Racing and Wagering Board to replace any convicted felon who is currently licensed to operate a racetrack. The bill also applies to corporations that have been convicted of a felony.

After the Senate vote, the bill was introduced into the House, where it is expected to pass.
