Neumeier takes new Boston job

BOSTON - Bob Neumeier, the NBC horse racing analyst, has started a new day job - a midday sports talk show on Boston's WEEI-AM radio.

The switch comes after a year hiatus from local media. Previously, Neumeier was weekend sports anchor for Boston's CBS station and radio play-by-play voice for the NHL's Boston Bruins.

Neumeier doesn't think racing is suddenly going to crop up in calls about the town's beloved Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox.

"We'll probably focus on the big racing events, but the trouble with racing locally is it has a pretty narrow focus," said Neumeier. "We have to find a balance between entertainment and information, but there will be issues like legalized gaming and slots that I'm sure will get racing involved."
