Near-replay of Little Ones

Email

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Circus Marquee, Demagoguery, and Ernie Cat, three of the top four finishers in last month's Little Ones Stakes, will face six other 2-year-old Michigan-bred colts and geldings in Tuesday's $50,000 Patrick Wood Stakes at Great Lakes Downs.

Circus Marquee stalked the pace and held on for second in the Little Ones, beaten 4 1/2 lengths by Per Curiam. Al Talsma trains Circus Marquee for Wanda Talsma. Regular rider James Schwartz will be aboard.

Leading trainer Gerald Bennett sends out Demagoguery and Ernie Cat, who will race uncoupled. In the Little Ones, they raced as a team to the stretch before giving way to finish third and fourth, respectively.

From the rail out, the Patrick Wood field is Demagoguery, Joe Judice; O'Parker, Colin Skinner; Circus Marquee; Mad Adam, Luis Martinez Jr.; Revend, Nate Alcala; Thenardier, Martinez Jr. with a second call; Honorable Class, Roberto Perez; Boogie After Dark, Bobby Lester; and Ernie Cat, Terry Houghton.

Mad Adam and Thenardier, owned by Rosendo Parra, will be coupled in the wagering.
