Native Ruler heads Sprint

Native Ruler will be a short-priced favorite in the $75,000 Prairie Meadows Sprint at six furlongs.

After being claimed in his final start of 2007, Native Ruler is undefeated in four starts for trainer Chris Richard. He began his season at Oaklawn in conditioned claiming events, and Native Ruler established himself as one of the top sprinters in the Midwest when he won the $125,000 Iowa Sprint Handicap in his last start. Israel Ocampo, who has been in the saddle for Native Ruler's last two victories, will again be aboard.

Greeley's Conquest, who won last year's Prairie Mile, makes a return trip to Iowa in search of his second straight win. Greeley's Conquest, who has been sprinting all season, arguably ran the best race of his career in his most recent start when he came from off the pace to take the Temperance Hill at Louisiana Downs, earning a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 100.

Live From Appollo ships in from Arlington after capturing a second-level allowance test last time out. Trained by Steve Hobby, Live From Appollo should get a good trip from his outside draw and may get first run should the speed back up.
