Up 'n Blumin seeks three-peat

Up 'n Blumin will try to win the $25,000 Al Swihart Memorial Stakes for the third straight year as Fonner Park's 38-day season concludes.

Up 'n Blumin will have the challenge of tackling one of the fastest mares she has ever faced in G G's Dolly.

A Nebraska-bred daughter of Blumin Affair, Up 'n Blumin has shown good early speed but also has the versatility to lay just off the pace and pounce through the final quarter-mile. Up 'n Blumin made her seasonal debut in the Runza Stakes, where she was a half-length winner while confidently ridden through the stretch.

Regular rider R.D. Williams retains the mount on Up 'n Blumin for trainer Larry Donlin.

G G's Dolly will make her Fonner Park debut for her new connections of owner Kerwyn Parkening and trainer Patty Jo Braden after being acquired in a private transaction earlier this year. Although winless in her last two starts, G G's Dolly is a multiple stakes winner who has eye-popping speed for five furlongs. The 6 1/2 furlongs of the Swihart will be the biggest question for her to answer. Lee Sensenbach is named to ride.

Salty Attraction, trained by Mike Kirby, has shown a new dimension this year by coming from off the pace and could be the upsetter if the two speed mares duel on a hot pace. Salty Attraction owns a pair of mid-level allowance wins this year and a closing second to Up 'n Blumin in the Runza on April 7.
