My Trusty Cat cozy in blinkers

My Trusty Cat ($5) is all alone approaching the wire at Oaklawn Saturday, a five-length winner of the $75,000 Honeybee Stakes.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - My Trusty Cat, who was making her first start in blinkers, drew clear to win by five lengths over Ruby's Reception in the $75,000 Honeybee for 3-year-old fillies Saturday at Oaklawn Park.

It was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third to Explosive Beauty, who was the stronger part of a favored entry with Quest for Truth.

My Trusty Cat ($5) settled in third early behind Heart of the Cat, who led the field through fractions of 23.01 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 47.91 for the half-mile in the 1 1/16-mile race. My Trusty Cat launched her bid going into the final turn, and went on to cover the distance over a fast track in 1:44.15.

Don Pettinger rode the winner for owner Carl Pollard and trainer David Vance. She earned $45,000 for the win, which improved her record to three wins from eight starts for earnings of $284,025.

Saturday's attendance was 22,241.
