My Secret Star back with 3-year-olds

My Secret Star returns to action seeking his third stakes victory of the year when he faces seven 3-year-olds in the $10,000 Hall of Fame Stakes at Columbus.

My Secret Star won both the Bachman and Baxter stakes at Fonner Park early this spring, then was given time off before returning to the races at Lincoln on July 6. Facing older horses, he finished a non-threatening fifth that day against optional claiming company. He breezed a solid five furlongs locally last Sunday and should be primed for a top effort with regular rider Beth Butler aboard.

Recast, who was privately purchased during the Lincoln meet, will make his first start for new owner Connie Newman here and rates a good shot at the upset. In an entry-level allowance race going six furlongs on June 17, Recast dropped far back early, then made up more than 17 lengths in the final quarter-mile to win going away. He followed up that effort with a fifth-place finish going a mile against second-level allowance company, beaten three lengths by older rivals.

No Prob Bob and The Ruzz, both entry-level allowance winners this year, should provide a solid pace. The Ruzz enters off a win at Lincoln on June 30, while No Prob Bob won his last start on July 14, also at Lincoln.
