My Master Plan conquers older Texas-breds in Wayne Hanks Memorial

My Master Plan defeated older rivals in her first start against Texas-breds on Sunday, when she darted to a 2 1/2- length win over Infectious in the $50,000 Wayne Hanks Memorial at Lone Star Park. It was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third to Expect to Fly.

The Wayne Hanks, at 6 1/2 furlongs, was restricted to fillies and mares bred in Texas.

My Master Plan ($3.80), a 3-year-old, invaded from Oaklawn for the Wayne Hanks. She stalked the pace set by Too Much Prada, with that one taking the field through fractions of 22.83 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 46.23 for the half-mile while under pressure. My Master Plan overtook the leaders from there and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:19.

Luis Quinonez was aboard for Joyce McGough and trainer Donnie Von Hemel.

My Master Plan earned $30,000 for the win, which was her fifth career victory from seven starts. She has now earned $169,567. My Master Plan is a daughter of Oratory and was bred by Dan McGough.
