My Baby Baby goes by duelers to win Pleasant Temper

My Baby Baby, ridden by Miguel Mena, surged past a pair of dueling leaders in the final sixteenth-mile to post her first stakes victory Monday in the $50,000 Pleasant Temper Stakes at Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky.

Sent away the favorite in a field of 10 fillies and mares, My Baby Baby returned $5.80 after finishing one mile in 1:37.86 over firm turf. The Real Future finished three-quarters of a length behind the leader, with Tremendous One rallying to be third, another head back.

It was the third win from nine career starts for My Baby Baby, who was coming off a last-place finish in the Grade 1 American Oaks at Hollywood Park. Before that, she earned a 101 Beyer Speed Figure of 101 in winning an entry-level turf allowance at Churchill Downs.

Ken McPeek trains My Baby Baby, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred by Bernstein, for the Magdalena Racing partnership.

The six-day meet at turf-only Kentucky Downs was scheduled to end Tuesday.
