Muir Beach regains good form

Muir Beach was named horse of the meet the past two seasons at Turf Paradise, but after she lost two races in a row, there were whispers that the 5-year-old mare might be slipping. Her smart 1 1/2-length victory as the 7-5 favorite in last Saturday's $40,000 Queen of the Green Handicap pushed back those rumors for the time being.

"She's one tough, classy mare," said Glenn Corbett, who rides Muir Beach for trainer Danny McFarlane. "When I pushed her through an opening along the rail, she just kept on going. Danny made my job today very easy."

Things didn't go nearly as smoothly for California invader Revealed, the 2-1 second choice in the mile turf race.

"She blew her race even before we entered the gate," said her rider, Luis Jauregui, who flew in from California for the mount. "She was nervous and just wouldn't settle out there."
