Mud new challenge for Trust N Seven

Trust N Seven has handled most everything thrown at her while winning 6 of 9 career starts. Her record would look even better if she hadn't been disqualified out of a 7 1/2-length win in the First Lady at Indiana Downs in July.

Trust N Seven, a 3-year-old daughter of Trust N Luck, has been successful running against her elders, and has won sprinting and around two turns. She had no problem handling turf in the First Lady.

One thing Trust N Seven has yet to do is run over an off track, something she will likely have to do when she faces 10 other Indiana-bred fillies and mares in the $70,000 Frances Slocum at Hoosier Park. Rain fell Wednesday and Thursday at Hoosier and is supposed to continue into Friday.

Trained by Mike Lauer, Trust N Seven has won 4 of 6 this year, including a pair of statebred stakes locally. She won the Merillville on Aug. 29 against her elders and then demolished a field of her peers by 11 1/4 lengths Oct. 3 in the Hoosier Breeder's Sophomore. She will be coupled with Hey There Cupcake in the Slocum, as both are owned by Penny Lauer. Leandro Goncalves retains the mount.

Should Trust N Seven fail to handle an off track in the 1 1/16-mile Slocum, Wellington Avenue will be there to pick up the pieces. The 4-year-old Wellington Avenue is 2 for 2 on off tracks and has been working well for trainer Mike Maker following two straight wins locally. Leading rider Orlando Mojica will ride.
