Ms. Cornstalk, dam of two champions, in foal to Creative Cause
Email
Ms. Cornstalk, dam of two Canadian champions, is among the first mares pronounced in foal to Grade 1 winner Creative Cause, who is standing his initial season at Brereton and Elizabeth Jones' Airdrie Stud in Midway, Ky.
Ms. Cornstalk, a 9-year-old Indian Charlie mare, is the dam of two Sovereign Award winners from her first two foals to race.
Her first foal, the Stormin Fever filly Biofuel, was named Canada's Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old filly in 2010, following her award as champion 2-year-old filly in 2009. In 2011, Ms. Cornstalk's daughter Tu Endie Wei, a Johar filly, was also named champion 2-year-old filly.
Out of the unraced Upper Nile mare Upper Dancer, Ms. Cornstalk is a half-sister to six winners, including Grade 2 winner Dansil.
Creative Cause won four of 10 career starts and was only unplaced once, earning $1,039,000. Based in California, the son of Giant's Causeway won the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes and the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes as a juvenile and the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes as a 3-year-old. He also finished a close second to eventual champion I'll Have Another in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, and finished third in both the Preakness Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
Creative Cause, who is out of Grade 1-winning millionaire Dream of Summer, is standing his initial season for a fee of $15,000.
