Mr. Nightlinger’s first winner comes at Evangeline Downs

Multiple Grade 3 winner Mr. Nightlinger was represented by his first winner at stud on Aug. 23 when E Z Glider won a maiden claiming race at Evangeline Downs by 2 ¾ lengths.

The dark bay or brown filly completed the five-furlong race in 1:00.53 over a fast main track for owner The Five Horsemen and trainer Carl Deville. Bred in Louisiana by Cantrell Family Partnership Ltd., E Z Glider is the first foal out of the winning El Prado mare Adayinspain.

Mr Nightlinger, a 9-year-old son of Indian Charlie, stands at JEH Stallion Station’s Oklahoma Division in Wynnewood, Okla. for an advertised fee of $1,500. His debut crop of juveniles consists of 30 Thoroughbred foals.

Bred in Kentucky by Brereton Jones, Mr. Nightlinger made his mark in turf sprints during his three-season racing career, winning the Grade 3 Aegon Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs and the Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland Race Course. He also set the course record at Arlington Park for 5 ½ furlongs on the turf, in winning the Arlington Sprint Handicap in 1:01.89.

Mr. Nightlinger retired with 10 wins in 25 starts for earnings of $644,355. He was trained by Bret Calhoun for owners Martin Racing Stable and Carl R. Moore Management.

Mr. Nightlinger is one of seven winners from 10 starters out of the Time for a Change mare Timely Quarrel. Her other offspring include stakes winner Diferentkindagreat and stakes-placed winners Lovers Spat and Prosico.

Mr. Nightlinger is also a sire of Quarter Horse runners, with eight foals in his first crop of racing age from that breed. Two of his foals have raced, led by placed filly Miss Nightlinger One.
