Mr. Light's racing days over


Mr. Light, a world-record-setter, has retired from racing and will enter stud in 2006 at Mill Ridge Farm. Mill Ridge has purchased Mr. Light, a 6-year-old Numerous horse, from owner Earle I. Mack.

Mr. Light will stand for a 2006 fee of $6,500, payable Nov. 1.

An Argentine-bred trained by Angel Penna Jr., Mr. Light won a pair of Grade 3 races this season, the Poker and Appleton handicaps, setting a world record of 1:31.41 for a mile on turf in the Appleton at Gulfstream Park. His final start was a victory in the July 30 Poker. He retires with a record of 6-3-2 from 16 starts and $247,059 in earnings.
