ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Mr Havercamp dominated older Ontario-sired opposition in Saturday’s $125,000 Bunty Lawless Stakes at Woodbine, winning the one-mile turf route by 7 1/2 lengths under Eurico Da Silva. Mr Havercamp ($4.30) raced behind six of his seven rivals on the turn, as front-runner Where’s the Widget stacked up a host of stalkers, including a five-wide San Nicola Thunder. Mr Havercamp circled outside the field entering the stretch, and then drew off in the final three-sixteenths to prevail in a time of 1:34.52 over the firm ground. San Nicola Thunder finished a clear second over Call Me Wally, as Nipigon checked in fourth.  Trained by Catherine Day Phillips, Mr Havercamp gave Da Silva his 30th stakes victory this year, which leaves him just six wins shy of the meet record. “This is a very nice horse,” Da Silva said. “I went there full of confidence. He’d trained very well. It was a little bit hard to relax him behind horses. It was a wall of horses, and we just sat behind. When I turned him loose, he broke from there. He’s going to be special.” Mr Havercamp, a 3-year-old Court Vision gelding, is unbeaten in four Woodbine starts, with his lone loss being a troubled fifth in the Grade 3 Saranac at Saratoga. He collected $75,000 for owners Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry.
