Mountaineer track report

The filly Sunshine Summer ($31.40), 0 for 13 as a 3-year-old in 2004, is now 3 for 3 this season after scoring by 2 3/4 lengths while jumping from $15,000 to $30,000 claiming in a nonwinners-of-four route Monday night at Mountaineer.

Sunshine Summer is trained by Sherman Mitchell and was ridden by Alfredo Hernandez.

* Kentucky-based trainer Bernie Flint raised his record to 4 for 7 at Mountaineer this season when Midnight Pass ($5.40) shipped in from Turfway Park to win a nonwinners-of-two allowance sprint last Friday night. Two heavy favorites trained by Flint failed on Sunday night's program, however, one finishing second and the other off the board.

* The 4-year-old colt Salute the Troops ($4), starting for the first time in nearly a year, romped by 11 1/4 lengths against maiden sprinters for trainer Dale Baird. Salute the Troops, who last raced at Keeneland's 2004 spring meet, earned a 73 Beyer Speed Figure.
