Mountaineer track report

The mare with the most consistent record racing at Mountaineer Park proved to be better than any of the out-of-towners in Tuesday night's $78,000 Hancock County Handicap.

Alison's Winner, sent off at 7-1 despite her record of two wins and a second in four previous starts at Mountaineer, held off Chicago invader High Humidity by a neck in the five-furlong Hancock, the meet's first stakes for fillies and mares.

Ridden by Julio Felix for trainer Rodrigo Madrigal Sr., Alison's Winner ($18.20) had won the Angenora Stakes for Ohio-breds at Thistledown in her first start of the year last month. The 6-year-old Alison's Winner was timed in 57.53 seconds.

High Humidity, the 2-1 second choice in the 10-horse field, just missed in her bid for her fifth straight victory. Garrettslilnora, the other part of the Mike Reavis-trained entry, finished third.

Born to Dance, the 4-5 favorite coming off a money allowance win at Keeneland, finished sixth with jockey Shane Sellers.
