Mound wires Loyalty Stakes

Email

CINCINNATI – Mound wired the field of eight Ohio-accredited 2-year-olds in the $50,000 Loyalty at Belterra Park on Saturday.

Trained by Ivan Vazquez, Mound made his stakes debut a winning one, taking the six-furlong race by 9 3/4 lengths. Odds-on favorite Dayton Demo finished second, passing a tiring Johnny Longshot late to take the place by a half-length. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to the lone filly in the race, Senorita Dominguez, who rounded out the superfecta.

Mound finished in 1:11.62 on a fast track and returned $17.20 to win.
