More positives at Rock

EAST BOSTON, Mass. - Two more trainers were given 30-day suspensions for positive tests of a metabolite of cocaine found in their horses during the closing weeks at Rockingham Park.

Gerry Souto and Luis Arzola will begin serving their suspensions this weekend after the Souto-trained Bricabrack was disqualified from a victory Sept. 15 and Abuser, from Arzola's barn, was disqualified from a fourth-place finish Sept. 21.

In addition, a second positive test for the region's leading trainer, Ron Dandy, was announced for Classic Time, who won on Sept. 14. Dandy began a 30-day suspension Wednesday from a positive announced on Tuesday. No additional punishment was announced.

"I'm not going to fight it, but it's obvious this is a contamination," said Souto, who has been previously suspended for drug positives at Suffolk Downs. "I was having a good meet. I don't need to give cocaine to a horse." State officials, he said, "don't know where it's coming from and until they do there's going to be more of these."

"I'm going to take my days, but I'm very frustrated," said Arzola. "It bothers me that this is going to be on my record. I've been clean since I started, and now I have to shoulder this for the rest of my career."
