More Moonlight wins the $50,000 American Beauty Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Saturday.

More Moonlight gave trainer Steve Asmussen his fourth win in the last six runnings of the $50,000 , when she held off a late bid from Josh's Madelyn before an Oaklawn Park crowd of 27,094.

The win was also Asmussen's third on the card, as well as the third win on the program for jockey Luis Quinonez.

More Moonlight ($11) took the lead after the start of the six-furlong race for fillies and mares, and led the field uncontested through fractions of 23.07 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.12 for the half-mile mark. Through the stretch, she held off a rally by odds-on favorite Josh's Madelyn to cover the six furlongs in 1:11.17.

Last year during opening weekend at Oaklawn, More Moonlight won the $50,000 Dixie Belle. She is now perfect in two starts at the track, and she improved her record to five wins from 13 starts for earnings of $175,502. It was the fourth career stakes win for More Moonlight.

Asmussen's other American Beauty winners are My Brent's Diamond in 2001, Eternal Cup in 2004, and Souris in 2005.

True Tails, a front-runner, was scratched from the American Beauty.
