HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - More Moonlight closed up the rail and edged past True Tails late for a three-quarter length win in the $50,000 Spring Fever Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Saturday. Platinum Princess rallied for second, a neck in front of third-place finisher True Tails.

The Spring Fever was More Moonlight's second stakes win of the meet behind the $50,000 American Beauty in January.

More Moonlight ($25.40) settled in fourth early, about five lengths behind pacesetter True Tails, who broke on top and set fractions of 22.01 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.49 for the half-mile mark. More Moonlight advanced on the turn, drove to the lead in the late stages, and covered the five and a half furlongs for fillies and mares in 1:04.24.

"I just let her run her race," said Luis Quinonez, who rode the winner for trainer Steve Asmussen. "I let her settle in where she was comfortable and never really asked her to run until very late. I was hoping the leaders would come back to us and when she got room late in the stretch she gave me a good finish."

Asmussen won the Spring Fever last year with Souris, and also trains this year's runner-up, Platinum Princess.

More Moonlight earned $30,000 for the win, which was her fifth in a stakes and sixth overall from 15 career starts. She has now earned $207,902. More Moonlight is a 4-year-old by More Than Ready, and she races for Vinery Stables.

* Attendance at Oaklawn on Saturday was 23,169. Handle on the 11-race card from all sources was $6,183,900.
