Monmouth "wife" race rematch set for Sunday

The two “wife” horses who created an Internet and media sensation when they finished one-two at Monmouth Park are entered side-by-side in a Sunday race at Monmouth in their first rematch since that memorable Aug. 22 stretch duel.

Thewifedoesntknow and Mywifenosevrything will start from posts 1 and 2, respectively, as part of a 10-horse field in the ninth race, a $25,000 claiming race at 1 1/16 miles on the turf at the Oceanport, N.J., track. When the two horses last met, Monmouth race-caller Larry Collmus gained international acclaim for his stretch call: “Mywifenosevrything! Thewifedoesntknow! They’re one-two! Of course they are!”

The call was replayed by a multitude of media outlets, including most major networks, and has attracted more than one million Internet hits. Ken Warkentin will call the Sunday races at Monmouth because Collmus will be calling for ESPN at Hollywood Park in California the previous day.

A planned Sept. 12 rematch at Monmouth park did not happen when both horses were scratched after their race was rained off the turf.

Post time for the Sunday race is 4:30 p.m. Eastern. TVG will have live coverage, with live streaming available on monmouthpark.com.
