Monmouth Park opens Hillsborough OTB on Friday

Monmouth Park will open its second New Jersey offtrack betting parlor Friday in Hillsborough.

Named “Favorites in Hillsborough,” the OTB will have 60 carrels for players to sit and handicap and “dozens” of high-definition flat-screen TVs. McLoone’s Clubhouse Pub will offer a full menu.

The Hillsborough OTB will be open seven days a week at 11 a.m.

“The Hillsborough OTW has been a long time in the works,” said Bill Knauf, vice president of business operations for Monmouth. “After years of planning, remodeling, governmental approvals, and contractual negotiations, we’re pleased to finally open the doors.”

Hillsborough is in north-central New Jersey. It is 21 miles away from Favorites at Woodbridge, Monmouth Park’s other OTB, which opened nearly 10 years ago.

In addition to Hillsborough and Woodbridge, there are OTBs in New Jersey in Bayonne, Gloucester, Toms River, and Vineland.

The Meadowlands operates the Bayone OTB; Freehold Raceway operates the Gloucester and Toms Rover locations; and Greenwood Racing, which closed down Atlantic City Race Course this year, owns the Vineland OTB.

More money to be drained from the citizens of NJ. When will the gambling end there?

its voluntary, just like eating , drinking, playing golf . going to the movies or fishing. if you don't like it don't do it. some people enjoy it. it is their money after all.
