OCEANPORT, N.J. - Another weekend at Monmouth Park, another stakes win for jockey Chris DeCarlo.
Finishing up the core portion of the meet with a flourish, DeCarlo guided Afleeting Lady to a 4 1/2-length win over Daddy's Honor on Monday in the $75,750 Lady's Secret for fillies and mares.
Daddy's Honor set the pace with Afleeting Lady hounding her every step. Afleeting Lady really cranked up the pressure entering the final turn, took charge with a quarter-mile to run and steadily widened her advantage in the lane. It was the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old trained by Dale Romans.
"Dale told me that she was a slow breaker and to make sure she ran away from there," DeCarlo said.
Following those instructions perfectly, DeCarlo picked up his third stakes win in as many weekends at Monmouth. The streak started with San Pablo in the Grade 3 Iselin on Aug. 18 and continued on Aug. 26 with Closing Range in the Twin Lights.
Afleeting Lady paid $6 to win as the second choice. The time was 1:43.88 for the 1 1/16 miles on the fast track.
Successful Song was third as the 6-5 favorite. Then came Daring Reality, Snow Fall, Street Crew and Withgreatpleasure.
Monmouth now cuts back to a two-day schedule, Saturdays and Sundays, for the balance of the meet through Oct. 7.
Very nice horse.

ONE NINE NINE raced quite wide en route to a commendable second behind future stakes winner Man Stuff the only time she saw action last spring. She wintered at Payson Park before working four times here on the Poly, and should be ready to rumble with Da Silva riding for a live barn. GLORIOUS ANGEL ran against a speed bias when fifth in an April 21 maiden special. Trainer Mark Casse hit with 20% of his second-out droppers to maiden-claiming company over the past five years ($1.50 ROI). MORNING HAS BROKEN was a chalky second vs.
