The eight-program Monmouth at Meadowlands all-turf meet begins Friday and will continue through Oct. 28. Racing will be held Friday and Saturday this week and next, then on Saturdays in October. First post will be 7 p.m. Eastern, except for the final card, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Six-race cards are planned. Since the meet is turf-only, the races are weather dependent. The forecast for this weekend calls for dry conditions. The opening-night program has full fields of 10 in five of the six races, all of which have also-eligibles. The featured race of the evening, a first-level allowance at five furlongs, has nine entrants. The jockey colony includes apprentice Hector Diaz Jr., Wilmer Garcia, and Shannon Uske. Ken Warkentin will call the races. A number of promotions are scheduled. On Oct. 7, the Budweiser Clydesdales can be viewed up close from 6 -7 p.m. They will parade following the second race. A buffet will be available at Trotters on all race nights. The restaurant Pink will be open on Saturdays. Weather permiting, the roof top terrace will be open every night. Parking and admission are free.
