Monmouth: Jeb's Wild gets ideal trip

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Jeb's Wild sat a perfect trip off a blistering pace set by Lord Abounding and B K Dodger, took the lead at the sixteenth pole, and captured the $50,000 Spend a Buck Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Jeb's Wild ($4.20), under Abdiel Toribio, got first jump on Lord Abounding, who took over turning home, and fended off a strong challenge from May Expectations to win by one length. Lord Abounding held strongly after setting quick fractions, but he was nosed out for the place spot by May Expectations. Jeb's Wild covered one mile over a turf course rated good in 1:36.07 before a crowd of 11,388.

Jeb's Wild, trained by Tim Hills and owned by Thomas Croley, has emerged as one of the top 3-year-old grass horses at Monmouth since making the surface change this meet, winning two of three starts. He ran second in the Lamplighter Stakes here Aug. 4 in his last start.
