Monmouth: Bravo provides perfect ride

Being placed too close to the early pace may have prevented Seducer's Song from running her best in last month's Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks. But Joe Bravo, riding Seducer's Song for the first time, recognized how to put the 3-year-old filly in ideal position to make her closing kick effective in the Boiling Springs Handicap at Monmouth Park.

Sitting in the second flight early, Seducer's Song ($4) was asked for her best run at the top of the stretch and she moved to the lead, then held off the late charge of Go Robin to post a half-length victory in the Grade 3, $150,000 turf stakes for 3-year-old fillies. She ran 1 1/16 miles on a turf course rated good in 1:45.66,

"Joe rode her perfectly," said Brian Ange, an assistant trainer to Christophe Clement. "He knows the turf course well and had her in the perfect spot. In California, she was right up on the leaders, but Joe put her where she belongs."

It was the fourth win in eight starts for Seducer's Song, whose first stakes victory came two races ago in the Grade 3 Lake George at Saratoga.

* Sis City ($5) took command at the start and cruised to a 16-length victory in the $60,000 Mongo Queen Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at a mile and 70 yards on the main track.
