Moneyinmywranglers dangerous on the lead

Moneyinmywranglers appears to be the controlling speed in the $50,000 New Braunfels, a six-furlong stakes for fillies and mares at Retama Park that drew a competitive field of 11.

But despite the large field, there does not appear to be an abundance of speed in the race. It is a situation upon which Moneyinmywranglers can capitalize. Although she has been effective stalking, she does enter the New Braunfels off a front-running win at 5 1/2 furlongs at Retama on Oct. 18.

Moneyinmywranglers dueled throughout a $35,000 optional claimer and held for a nose win over a handful of the same rivals she will again face in the New Braunfels. The race was her first start since July, and with the win she improved her career record to 9 for 18. Sharon Barker co-owns and trains Moneyinmywranglers, who will be ridden by Rohan Singh. The team drew well in post 8.

The chief pace threat could be Five Star Daydream, who drew the rail. She won a restricted sprint stakes wire to wire at Belmont Park back in 2006, and in more recent times has been taking on allowance rivals in the Southwest.

Her last start came at Zia Park, where she was second by three-quarters of a length in a $25,000 optional claiming sprint Oct. 18. Omar Rodriguez has the mount on Five Star Daydream for trainer J.R. Caldwell.

The field also includes a trio of stakes-winning 3-year-old fillies: Ruffaroundtheedges, Formal Flyer, and Ms Classic Seneca.
