Mohawk: Thursday 7/4 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: HOPE FOR JUSTICE (1st)

Spot Play: JUST HENRY (5th)

Race 1

(5) HOPE FOR JUSTICE won both of his qualifiers and appears to be ready to win at first asking. He finished off his miles in fine form and has minded his manners. (10) SPECIAL AGENT MAN has won both starts so far in 2013 in comfortable fashion. Now he moves into Moreau's barn and likely will be even better. (3) STARSABOVEALLERAGE trotted home in his latest qualifier in :28 3/5. He'll make his debut tonight and is a great option for the triactor.

Race 2

(3) DONTCHEATONMENOW draws well and went gate-to-wire in his latest qualifier. He also comes out of a top trotting barn and has behaved in all three qualifiers. (2) CORSAIR HALL draws well and comes out of Schnittker's barn. I feel he's ready to improve even more in his career debut. (6) BRITISH STEEL has finished first and second in both qualifiers this season. He stays trotting and can race either way.

Race 3

(9) BREEZIN ON BYE has won two straight and did it on the front end. She remains at the same level and once again is very capable. (8) PUTNAM MACKENZIE was hard-used last week to earn the front and had to settle for third. With a better trip, she can improve and may offer a fair price. (5) ST LADS MORGAN has a good record this season and gets Jamieson once again in the bike. I'm not convinced she can win, but is a good option for the triactor.

Race 4

(8) DERBY qualified very well at The Meadowlands. He left from post eight, settled away in third before making his way to the front en route to victory. That type of race-line tells me that he's ready to win at first asking. (6) WINDSUN REVENGE also qualified very well and will make his career debut after just one qualifier. He finished very well and did it the right way. (3) HITCH A RIDE has more experience with three qualifiers under his belt and comes out of Durand's barn. He draws well and appears to be very versatile.

Race 5

(2) JUST HENRY was full of pace last week, but was bearing to the inside in deep stretch. He did pace home in :27, which is terrific, but I think he can improve. I'm also hoping for a price. (1) CZAR SEELSTER draws inside and was recently timed in 1:51 4/5. He enjoys racing from off-the-pace and MacDonald can dictate his trip from post one. (3) THORN IN YOUR SIDE has won two of his last three, including a victory last week. He's a very playable horse in here.

Race 6

(5) EHRNROOTH went a tough trip in his qualifier and still trotted home very well. With a cleaner trip, he's very capable. (2) OH CHARLIE draws inside and finished off his miles very strong in both qualifiers. I like his chances in here from post two. (3) CENTURY AMADEUS appears one-dimensional at this point, but he draws well and dropped significant time in each qualifier. I'd expect to see him put into the race early.

Race 7

(5) KING RICHARD has a terrific record this season with only one loss from five starts. He was very impressive last week and continues to improve and drop time. (7) PRIMERIDE has won two straight and also has a terrific record in 2013. He's very versatile and comes from a high percentage barn. (8) POINTSMAN appears to have the speed, but will need the trip. If he doesn't get away too far back, I like his chances.

Race 8

(6) MUSCLE MATTERS qualified three times and comes out of the Baillargeon barn. He's qualified on the front and from off-the-pace and that sets him up well in here. (2) RAMAS LAST SON won his qualifier last start with a good final quarter. He draws inside and appears ready. (5) DELCREST DANNY only qualified once and shows enough trot to hit the board in here. He'll likely provide a higher price.

Race 9

(1) WORLDY DEO draws inside and gets Jamieson in the bike. That's the main reason for my selection. If she can mind her manners, I like her chances. (6) PEPPERMINT PATTI continues to improve and race well. She's on the right path and may offer the same price as last week. (3) TIGRA SEELSTER draws well and is considered a longshot. I hope she's put into the race this week. This isn't a deep field and she has the potential for a very high payout.

Race 10

(8) SIR WILLIAM has finished second in five of six career starts. He's had some time off, qualified well and he's due for his first career win. (4) MAGIC WILL WORK qualified very strongly in 1:56 1/5 and draws inside. A repeat effort should be quick enough for the exactor. (3) LOKI DE VIE draws inside and qualified well both starts. He gets Filion in the bike, which is only a plus.

Race 11

(5) COUGAR HALL raced against the best in North America just two starts ago and raced well last week. He's overdue for a victory at this level and it may come in here. A short field only helps. (4) DEWEY BEACH qualified three times and looks ready to drop significant time. I'm taking a chance on him and it will be interesting to see what kind of price he offers. (8) AVATARTIST went to the back last week and wasn't a factor. He appears to be at his best when he's put into the race. I hope that happens from an outside post.

Race 12

(8) THE DEPUTY IS HOME has finished second in this class, both times beaten by a neck for the win. The addition of Lasix has really seemed to help. (3) WILDCAT ART has a good winning record this season and this is a wide-open race. He shows enough speed and returns to the level where he's been competitive. (4) FRESH HERB is always competitive in this class and he draws well. He's a good option to consider for the triactor.
