Mohawk: Thursday 6/27 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (4 - 8 / $12.00): ON THE BIG SWING (6th)

Race 1

(6) P L FAIRLADY put forth the most impressive performance of her career last week with an open length victory. She remains at the same level and gets an easier post. (10) PRIZED FIGHTER certainly has the speed, but will have to overcome post 10. He raced very well last week with an impressive final frame. (9) HOBSONS CHOICE raced very well last season and if he can mind his manners, he's very capable in this class.

Race 2

(2) ZORRO was sent up to McNair and he's had great success at finding the winner's circle with horses sent to him from conditioner Harmer. He draws inside and may provide a price. (5) SANATTLE SLEW gets the Jamieson/Gillis combination and that is always lethal, especially with a young horse. I expect this youngster to drop serious time and be effective. (3) Y S BIG POKEMON draws inside and has three qualifiers under his belt. He can get off the gate and be well positioned.

Race 3

(6) CRAFTY MASTER won his qualifier by open lengths in a good time and solid final frame. He also comes out of the McNair barn, which will only decrease his price. (4) O U DEVIL qualified at The Meadowlands and ships north with Norman to this circuit. I'm using the trainer angle in here to put him for second. It is hard to overlook Norman's record this season. (1) WARRAWEE PHOENIX is a half-brother to Warrawee Needy and this horse gets the rail. He's qualified three times and appears ready.

Race 4

(2) REGAL SON comes out of the McIntosh barn and the horse is a perfect one-for-one to start his career. He draws inside and likely will drop multiple seconds. (1) WESTERN FELLA paced a good mile in his career debut last week considering he got interfered with. He closed his mile strong with a :27 3/5 final quarter. (9) P L HOOFHEARTED finished second in his career debut and raced terrific considering he got away eighth. I think he'll be that much better this week.

Race 5

(2) ILL BE THERE has been knocking on the door lately in this class and gets much needed post relief. He's got the gate-speed and comes out of Montini's barn. (6) BETTY OOP gets put into a claimer after being fresh off a victory in her last start. She hasn't raced since June 3, which is a worry, but she's very competitive in this field. (1) ROLANDS SEEHORSE is a good option to consider for the triactor. He draws inside and has proven to be very competitive in this class.

Race 6

(4) ON THE BIG SWING won both qualifiers and each by open lengths. That tells me he wasn't tested and able to drop even more time. (8) HIGH FLIER comes out of Moore's barn, which has a terrific reputation with young horses. He appears versatile and I think he's a player. (2) WARCO BRUISER draws inside and was timed in 1:55 1/5 last start. That type of effort should be quick enough to hit the board.

Race 7

(6) THORN IN YOUR SIDE has a very good record this season in five starts and was recently timed in 1:52 4/5. He also gets Jamieson back in the bike. (10) SEA HARRIER finishes off his mile very strong, but will have to overcome post 10. He's got the speed, but will need the trip. (2) FIERCE DESIRE draws inside and comes out of McIntosh's barn. This marks his second start with Lasix.

Race 8

(6) THREE OF CLUBS won his only qualifier in a good time and a very good final frame. He's another rookie that McNair will send out and once again is very capable of scoring the win. (7) ROYAL CANVAS qualified well both times and trainer Persson has had a terrific season to date. That's the angle I'm going to use. (3) DRAVEN SEELSTER draws well and comes out of Gillis' barn. He's also a half brother to millionaire Deuce Seelster.

Race 9

(3) LUCKY KING did most of the work last week on the front en route to victory. He draws well and will likely look for the same trip. (5) KING ROYALTY got interfered with last week, but still paced a good mile. I feel he'll be that much better this week with the experience he gained from that start. (1) P L HAYMAKER draws inside and was timed in 1:55 last week. That type of effort should be quick enough to hit the board.

Race 10

(1) DOUKNOWWHEREURGOIN has qualified three times and has improved with each effort. She draws inside and appears ready to handle this maiden class. (6) I GOT TO BOOGIE moves into the O'Sullivan barn and qualified very well at The Meadowlands. She appears to have the speed, but will have to mind her manners. (8) LAND OF ANGELS draws outside once again and will likely race from off-the-pace. She comes out of Jamieson's barn and I expect her to be on her game.

Race 11

(1) FEEL THE BLUES draws inside and will make his seasonal debut. He qualified very well last week with a :26 4/5 final quarter. (6) CAMCRUISER HANOVER hasn't won yet in four starts this season but has been showing quick times. He'll need the correct trip and is a good option for the exactor. (7) ABLAZE HANOVER also has shown quick speed, but failed to find the winner's circle in eight starts this season. He comes out of Moreau's barn and that can't be overlooked.

Race 12

(8) PART TIME LADY has been claimed in each of her last two starts and moves into the Winacott barn. She has a terrific record this season and likely will be the favorite. (10) BREEZIN ON BYE draws outside and is fresh off a win. She's been very good in her last few starts and that likely will continue. (5) Y S GOLD STAR hasn't won in 12 starts this season, but is at a level where she's capable of hitting the board. I'm looking for a price on her.
