Mohawk: Thursday 5/30 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: ONE MORE GINNY (7th)

Spot Play: MEADOWVIEW ARTY (5th)

Race 1

(8) OLLY WARRAWEE moves into the Moreau barn and that's the main reason for my selection. He shows enough trot (timed in 1:58 3/5 last start) and has missed the board just once from three starts this season. (9) TAG UP AND GO qualified very well last week and appears to be very versatile. I think he's ready to drop time in his seasonal debut. 6) WISH ME LUCK AS put in a strong effort last week as he was timed in 1:57 4/5. This marks her third start of the season and she can continue to show improvement.

Race 2

(2) SEA HARRIOR gets a trainer change and raced well last week despite making a break. If he minds his manners this week, he's got a great shot at winning. (4) OK FABOULAS draws well and shows enough speed. He continues to drop time and races at his best when he's put in the race. (7) FIERCE DESURE also has shown steady improvement. He comes out of the McIntosh barn and is once again a threat to hit the board.

Race 3

(5) SHARPSHOT HALL has finished second in both his two starts this season. He has terrific gate-speed and once again is a top contender. He may be due for a trip this week. (7) MIYAGI HANOVER comes out of the Henriksen barn, which is always a plus with young trotters. This colt makes his second start of the season and this is a light field; looking for a price. (4) ANAFFAIRTOREMEMBER draws inside, shows gate-speed and qualified well. If she can mind her manners, she's capable of being top three.

Race 4

(5) THREE HANDBAGS has taken a lot of money in her last two starts and failed to deliver a victory. This may be the week as she draws well once again and faces an easier bunch. (2) HONI MAKER moves into the Perrson barn that has had a tremendous season so far. This filly drops out of the SBOA stakes back into this class, which is much easier. (3) DOTTIE HANOVER made a miscue last week, which I'm going to overlook. She certainly has enough speed (which she displayed two starts ago) and finishes her miles strongly.

Race 5

(3) MEADOWVIEW ARTY draws well once again and races much better when he's put into the race early. This is a wide-open race and with the right trip, I feel this horse is capable. I'm hoping for the same price as last week. (2) PRESTO PEGASUS made a break last week and was assigned post 10 the week before. He draws much better and trotted in 1:54 4/5 two starts ago. He'll need a trip, but has the speed to compete in this group. (8) SONNY VALE makes the move onto this circuit, but he's finished second in his last two starts at Western fair in close margins. He comes from a high percentage trainer and has some back-class to him.

Race 6

(3) ALLAMERICAN EXTRA drops back into the class that he won at two starts ago. He draws inside and enjoys being put into the race early. Waples gets the call once again, which is always a plus. (9) FIRST IMPRESSION certainly hasn't been at his best in recent starts, but he drops in class and this level suits him much better. He was the favorite last week at a higher level. I'm price shopping and taking a chance on (5) HORNSWOGGLE. He qualified well and posted a good record last season. He'll likely race from off-the-pace.

Race 7

(4) ONE MORE GINNY raced very well last week despite finishing second. She was timed in 1:52 3/5, which is a terrific mile. She's had a wonderful season to date and has made the transition to an aged mare. She'll likely be the favorite. (7) CHINA PEARLS put forth a good effort last week considering it was her second start off the shelf. She sustained a season-ending injury prior and continues to improve. Her final quarters indicate that she's capable in this field. (2) BAX OF LIFE draws inside and hasn't missed the board in her last three starts. She's had a good season and certainly is capable of being a part of the triactor.

Race 8

(7) FLYUSTOTHEMOON hasn't been at her best in recent starts and I'm looking for a rebound effort. This race is very tough to predict, but she has a good win percentage this season and comes from a very credible trainer. (5) CANBEC JEWELL SUN was assigned post 10 last week and managed to finish fourth. She put forth a good effort and draws better, which tells me she's capable of hitting the board. (2) PART TIME LADY draws inside, is fresh off a victory and moves into the Winacott barn. She's missed the board just twice from 10 starts this season; good option for the triactor.

Race 9

This is a wide-open tilt, but (2) TYMAL BLING put forth a good qualifier and trainer/driver Henry has a terrific reputation with young trotters. This filly hasn't been at her best yet this season, but I think she'll appreciate the bigger track and good post to work with. (3) HETTIES HONEY trotted in 1:56 3/5 last week and that type of mile should be good enough to be a part of the exactor this week. She draws well and is very versatile for driver Small. (8) JOJO ON THE GOGO was assigned post 10 last week and made a break in stride. With the right trip, she's very capable in this field for trainer Moreau.

Race 10

(8) POINTSMAN was a going-away winner last week for MacDonald. He gets a trainer change this week and moves up in class, but is very capable. He put forth a very strong effort and had plenty left in the tank. (9) GRANTOR HANOVER finished second in this class last week and now has been assigned post 10. He doesn't show the best gate-speed, so look for him late in the mile. (6) BAD BOY HILL got away too far back last week and wasn't a factor. He closed very well using a :26 2/5 final frame and with a better trip, he's got enough speed to be hit the board.

Race 11

(1) P L FAIRLADY draws inside and has terrific gate-speed. She has been racing very well this season and gets Christoforou for the second straight week. She'll likely be on the front and if she can get away with easy fractions, she's a major player. (7) MONEY MAVEN dropped significant time last week for driver Tetrick and now gets Condren in the bike. He doesn't like to win, but is a good option for the exactor, especially with a regular catch driver in the bike. (2) JUKEBOX JACKIE draws inside and gets Jamieson in the bike. She tends to be inconsistent and will need the right off-the-pace trip.

Race 12

(5) MCGAIN N MCGAIN moves into the Herlihy barn and won at this level last week. She's a 23-time winner in her career and has some back-class to her. (2) JENNA CASIMIR continues to improve in her first two starts of the season. She closed very strongly last week and draws much better this week. Don't expect the same price as last time. (4) XENIA HANOVER is fresh off a win and returns to a class that she's been competitive at while on this circuit. She shows enough speed and draws inside.
